1. Have you and your spouse agreed to live in separate locations (a geographical bachelor tour) knowing that the short-term inconvenience would have long-term benefits for your family? How did it work for you? submitted byWhen Good People Get Together
Honestly, it had never crossed our minds - that was before we bought a house of course. Being the army, we know that he can get orders at any time and while we really want to stay here a while and financially at the time, it was a better investment to purchase a home, we both know that if we were to have to PCS and couldn't sell the house for some reason, I would have to stay behind until we did. We don't want to ruin our credit by foreclosing and we all know that sometimes it takes time to sell a home. We plan on having enough in savings to last at least a year but it's still important for us to have a back up plan and this would be a worst case scenario plan to save our family from screwing up our finances.
2. What is your favorite thing about being a MilSpouse? submitted by Sarah Ruth Today
I really don't have anything that I absolutely love except the fact that we are guaranteed a place to live and medical care. In the economy the way it is now, it's nice to have at least a minimum amount of financial security.
3. If you could still have your spouse/significant other and your family, but take the military life out of it...would you? submitted by Trust. Love. Believe. Bake.
Probably not. The military life provides for us. It was my husband's dream since he was just a toddler [yep he was one of those little baby boys running around in camo pretending to be a soldier] to be in the Army and I would NEVER ask him to give that up and honestly as much as I hate when he leaves I know we have stability and I know that it has made our relationship and appreciation for each other so much more than it would have been had we just been civilians. We've had our love tested and we've fought like crazy and then we spent a year apart and fell in love more than we ever were before. He's my best friend and the military has really made this more clear for me.
4. What have your homecoming experiences been like after a year long tour of separation? submitted by Army Soldier, Army Wife
It was amazing. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. It was one of the favorite days of my life. The anticipation, the excitement and then finally that first hug and kiss and seeing his daughter as a walking toddler- it was amazing.
5. If you have a child(ren) why did you choose their name(s)? If not, why would you name your child something? submitted by Tiara's and ACU's
Actually Rob chose her name [Caylee Brooke]. Caylee means most beautiful and we spelled it that way thinking it was unique [except chances would have it that the same time she was born, the story of Caylee Marie Anthony came out- so sad] and Brooke he chose just because it thought it was a good fit.
